Ph.D. defended

Dr. Alison Marinelli successfully defended her doctoral dissertation  titled “A qualitative examination of the listening effort experience of adults with hearing loss.”  Ali presented the results of her work at the recent Hearing Rehabilitation Foundation (HRF) conference in St. Petersburg, FL.  Congratulations Ali on an outstanding piece of work!

New article published

Shannon Wannagot (Au.D./Ph.D student) had her first paper published based on work completed as a T-35 trainee at Boystown National Research Hospital. The worked titled “Effects of Looking Behavior on Listening and Understanding in a Simulated Classroom” can be found in the most recent issue of Journal of Educational Audiology, volume 20, 1-10. Congratulations Shannon!

New Location

After many years in Philips 138 the Aural Rehab lab will have a new home.  We will be moving into newly renovated space in Philips building sometime in January.  Exciting changes are underway and we are looking forward to our new location.

Oyer Award Winner

Brittney Dullard was selected as the 2014 Oyer award recipient.  The Oyer award is an internationally competitive student research award named in honor of Herbert J. Oyer, Ph.D., a charter member of Academy of Rehabilitative Audiology and leader in the field of audiologic rehabilitation. The award recognizes students completing exemplary research in the area of audiologic rehabilitation.  The Aural Rehab Lab is very proud of of Brittney and her work.  The honor is well-deserved.

Self Efficacy and Hearing Aid Use

Congratulations to lab member, Brittney Dullard, who successfully defended her dissertation titled “A Comparison of General and Task-Specific Measures of Self-Efficacy in Adult Hearing Aid Users” on August 18, 2014.  Brittney will present the results of her study at the Academy of Rehabilitative Audiology in Philadelphia, PA in September.
